The Cat Clinic offers a state-of-the-art surgical facility. We use only Sevoflorane, the safest inhaled anesthetic agent available. Because we are a cats only clinic, we are highly skilled in performing routine surgeries such as spay/neuter and declaw. In addition, our veterinarians are uniquely trained in specialized critical care procedures.
Throughout the surgery and recovery, we use advanced technology to monitor your cat's vital signs. Appropriate pain control is administered with every surgery. Heated recovery cages provide the optimum environment for a safe recovery.
The Cat Clinic recommends spay or neuter at four months of age, before the cat comes into heat or begins exhibiting sexually mature behaviors such as urine spraying or roaming.
Spaying is the surgical removal of the uterus and ovaries (ovariohysterectomy). Some of the benefits include prevention of unwanted kittens, decreased chance of mammary tumors, decrease in undesirable behavior due to heat cycles, and elimination of uterine infection and reproductive tumors.
Neutering is the surgical removal of the testicles. Benefits include prevention of unwanted kittens, decrease in urine spraying and desire to roam, and elimination of reproductive tumors.
A declaw is a surgical proceedure requiring general anesthetic, meticulous attention to pain control and technique. The integrity of the flexor tendons and toe pad must be preserved while removing the bone from which the claw grows. This is accomplished by carefully amputating the bone at the end of the toe. The incision is closed with surgical glue and the feet are bandaged for 24 hours. We hospital our declaw patients for two nights following surgery to allow sufficient healing so that when they return home, no special care is required. FAQ regarding declaw
